Skin Type

Do you know your skin type? You could be using the wrong skincare and makeup products if you don't know.  Understanding the different skin types and which one you have will help you choose the best products for maximum efficacy in cleansing, toning and moisturizing your skin. Our skin is the largest organ we have and it absorbs anything we put on in it. Normally your skin type is determined by your genetics, but our habits and exposure to environmental conditions can impact our skin, like breakouts for instance. Each skin type requires special attention and a specific beauty regimen… People of all skin tones can have any of these skin types. So, what does this mean?

Here are some helpful definitions:

Combination skin: dry and flaky on certain parts of the face and excessive oil on others like the T-zone. If you have combination skin, exfoliating your skin cells twice a week will help keep moisture balance;

Dry skin type: feels uncomfortable and tight and sometimes can look a dull and irritated. Avoid foam facial cleansers and use cream or oil based cleansers;

Oily skin type: an oily face often looks shiny and prone to acne breakouts. Gel moisturizers work best on oily skin to keep your face moisturized.
